my friend says the exact same thing. “god not another shitty diablo type of game” it’s annoying because aside from the interface, they’re very different games.

I’d add Chrono Cross, Tales of Destiny (and every other Tales for that matter, save for Dawn of the New World), Legend of Dragoon, Lunar Silver Star Story, Albert Odyssey, Guardian Heroes, Ogre Battle 64, Shining Force 3, Shining the Holy Ark, Dragon Force, and so many more.

I doubt anyone with a PC could have missed Baldur’s Gate but the console exclusive crowd probably did. I mean in 1998 I was playing two things: Ocarina of Time and Baldur’s Gate. I beat Ocarina of Time in a few weeks but I played Baldur’s Gate for the next 4 years, trying with different characters and replaying it over and over. And once I got Baldur’s Gate 2, I invested just as much time into that one. Two of the greatest RPG’s ever created.

Yeah, it is really sad that BG doesn’t get the recognition that it deserves… all of my friends think it is a Diablo clone (how wrong they are).

Another RPG classic that seems to have been missed by everyone is Chronocross. I actually liked it more than Chronotrigger. You can find it pretty cheap at older game stores.
