In an interview with the Seattle Times, Kai Huang (co-founder and CEO of RedOctane) has stated that there might be a subscription-service for downloadable Guitar Hero content at some point in the future. When asked whether such a subscription model to the Guitar Hero catalog would be an option in the future, Huang stated that “that’s definitely one of the things we would love to do.” He also added that “consumers want [such a service]; I know I want it. We’re trying to make that happen.” Recently, we reported that Activision Blizzard, the parent organization of RedOctane, is exploring possible options of monetizing gameplay aspects and adding new premium services to their games.

  1. I don’t want it for GH… but if it was Rockband’s 1000 song Tracklist was available for subscription… I might look into it.

  2. NOOOOOOOOOOOO, this is just an excuse for Activision to milk the franchise out of all the money that it is worth. Guitar Hero was good, but Rock Band is superior in every way, much better songs on RB’s side.
