Media Molecule “Stepping Away” From ‘LittleBigPlanet’

Looks like two games were enough for the original creators of Sackboy. In a brief Q&A with Edge Online at Gamelab 2011 (in Barcelona, Spain), Media Molecule’s Siobhan Reddy announced the team at Media Molecule will be looking elsewhere for their next game. No word on how this change will affect continued support for the existing franchise’s DLC packages and community level management.

“We’re stepping away from LittleBigPlanet to focus on some new ideas,” said Media Molecule’s Siobhan Reddy.

Media Molecule was responsible for LittleBigPlanet and LittleBigPlanet 2 on the PS3. The PSP and upcoming PS Vita versions of the game, both called LittleBigPlanet, were handled by Sony’s Cambridge Studio (with input from Media Molecule) and Double11 respectively.

Good, I think they accomplished what they set out to do. Now they can put their creativity into a new IP.
