Those baiting their breath for news about a North American release of Sony’s motion-camera game EyePet can rest easy. At a holiday showcase event in New York yesterday, Sony representatives confirmed that the little mixed breed pile of adorable will be available in retail stores in the United States just in time for the Holiday buying rush. Available as both a bundle with the necessary camera peripheral and a standalone disc, EyePet furthers the popular virtual pet genre with a deeply interactable – nondescript – pet with hundreds of actions and moods at the player’s touch.

It was assumed that the game would only make the European release announced by Sony at last year’s Leipzig in Germany, but by making the holiday rush, and skipping out on the Q1 2010 routine many Playstation titles are coming down with, it could be the perfect gift for gamers of all varieties.
