The Mortal Kombat franchise has been in a hesitant limbo ever since its creator, Midway Entertainment, filed for bankruptcy and its rights to the series absorbed by Warner Brothers. But a new trailer, dubbed “Mortal Kombat: Rebirth,” hit the internet today that, while seemingly not building up hype for a new game, hints at a possible new cinematic feature. The trailer features a big-named cast and a more realistic, gritty approach to the source material, and already has a steady following across the web.

  1. It turns out this is fake, or rather, a pitch to Warner Bros.

It seemed to be a reboot of the game series, rather than a film, and I would be more excited to play the game in this new setting. Hopefully something happens with this pitch.

  2. Update… Warner Bros has hired Oren Uziel to write the script for a new MK movie set for 2013. Uziel wrote the awesome pitch that everyone is raving about.

    1. Awesome! The short was amazing, and what the series needs after that travesty that was Annihilation. I am excited to hear that the guy has been hired, can’t wait to see that movie.

  3. This is completely off topic… but does anyone know what the Ancient Egyptian word for Eagle is?
