THQ has announced that it will launch a live-action film based on the Red Faction franchise in March 2011, to accompany the release of the next installment in this series: Red Faction Armageddon. The two-hour film is known as Red Faction: Origins and will be aired on Syfy. The screenplay for the film is being developed by Andrew Kreisberg, who is also attached to the project as a producer. The story was written by THQ’s own Paul Demeo and will be set between the events of last year’s Red Faction: Guerrilla and the upcoming Red Faction: Armageddon.
The film follows the story of Jake Mason, the son of the protagonist from Red Faction: Guerrilla. According to a press release by THQ, Jake will find himself face-to-face with his long-lost sister when a new enemy surfaces on Mars.
A director and involved actors have not yet been announced by THQ.
