Bioware have just announced their way of saying thank you to their most dedicated fans. If you own a copy of Dragon Age 2 and have entered your Online Pass into EA’s database, all you need to do is go to the Black Emporium and you can download a copy of Mass Effect 2 – for free. This offer applies only to the PC version of Mass Effect 2.

As stated from the Bioware newsletter;

“Thanks to gamers like you, Dragon Age II is off to a great start – breaking the 1 million mark in less than two weeks and faster than Dragon Age: Origins. We appreciate your support. As a special thank you for helping with the game’s early success, BioWare would like to present you with a download code for 2010’s Game of the Year, Mass Effect 2 on PC. As always, we sincerely appreciate your support and passion as we remain focused on delivering quality interactive experiences now and in the future. Look for more exciting things coming from Dragon Age, Mass Effect, and Star Wars: The Old Republic in the future, including our recent launch of Mass Effect 2 Arrival DLC.”

Excited for a free copy of ME2, E-Gs? Or do you think most loyal Bioware fans already have both games? Comment below!

  1. This isnt fan appreciation… fans already own the games. This is just a sale to get people who are on the fence to buy the game. Still a really cool deal, but who does Bioware think they are fooling?

    1. With the media hype train leading up to DA2, it’s not a surprise it outsold Origins at a faster rate. I happen to agree with you on this though. They’re trying to package a good game onto a poor product to increase sales that are no doubt internally assumed to fall due to all the truthful negativity surrounding the game.

      A large portion of these million + sales are probably Signature Edition too (like what I did), because we wanted to get the launch DLC for free. Most of us also assumed it would be a solid game. Yeah…

      “To qualify and get your Mass Effect 2 PC download code, please follow these steps before April 30, 2011 at 11:59pm PDT:

      1. Purchase your copy of Dragon Age II (if you do not already own one).”

      You have one month. Please buy Dragon Age II so we can justify this catastrophe. We’ll give you Mass Effect 2 /wink /wink.

      Pretty much nail on the head there Korne. It’s spun in a nice way, but fans are definitely not the reason for this move. Around 600,000 off the shelf sales in 3 weeks is wretched for a AAA title with the exposure this game had. Desperate times call for desperate measures it seems.

      1. I think it is a way of getting people who liked DA2 but didn’t try ME because of the sci-fi aspect to try it.

        And calling DA2 a ‘poor game’ is unjustified. It was a different game, but not a bad one – regardless of whether you personally liked it; remember a lot of people out there, myself included, think the second is MILES and MILES better than the first.

        Much the same as all those people saying FF13 was a poor game.
