Gamasutra has reported that a the Quebec Superior Court has granted Ubisoft an injunction against THQ, to help prevent it from ‘poaching’ any more former-Ubisoft employees to staff the recently founded THQ Montreal studio with. In October 2010, THQ announced that Patrice Desilets, the creative director behind the Assassin’s Creed franchise, would be heading up the new studio. Desilets will begin his work at THQ this summer, when the non-compete clause in his contract with Ubisoft expires.

Aside from Desilets, three additional Ubisoft veterans are lined up to begin working at THQ Montreal. The court has ordered THQ to respect the non-solicit clause that is part of the contract of employees at the Ubisoft Montreal studio.

When Desilets left Ubisoft in June 2010, the company issued a statement that Desilets was “taking a creative break from the industy.”
