Game industry reporter MCVUK.com has stated that Lazard Capital Markets, a US-based market research firm, has issued a report confirming that the upcoming handheld by Sony, the NGP, will be released in North America before the end of the current year. However, the firm was unable to confirm the same for a European release date, stating that Sony was less clear with respect to this market.
In the same report, Lazard Capital Markets expresses concern “that an initially high price point could limit the market opportunity for NGP, since Sony continues to balance profitability goals with unit sales.” However, the company does state that “Uncharted for NGP looks impressive [when compared to] some of the early PSP games, which lacked differentiation in many respects.”
The company expects Sony to announce a definitive price point on the new handheld at E3 in June.
