Born from a collection of some of the more enviable resumes in game design (namely those consisting of credits on Goldeneye, Killer Instinct, and Perfect Dark), Starfire Studios has announced its first game for the Xbox Live Arcade. Fusion: Genesis is being described as a twin stick shooter with a few MMO elements thrown in for good measure. Dynamic connectivity is the game’s most lauded feature, with drop-in multiplayer options spread across both co-op missions and full scale raids.

A tie-in game for the Windows phone – Fusion: Sentient – allows players to raise pets to trade at an in-game auction house in Fusion: Genesis. Both games are scheduled for release sometime later this year.

Excited to see former Rare staffers at work on more “hardcore” titles, EGs? Would a twin-stick shooter be called a “twschump”? Give us your thoughts in the comments section!

  1. Good to see they are working on a game that will use their talents to the fullest. Microsoft has the capability of making Rare a great company that pumps out great games again, but they are forcing the team to make Avatar stuff and the crappy Kinect Sports games.
