If you are one of the many that wanted more of Mortal Kombat through the eyes of Kevin Tancharoen (“Mortal Kombat: Legacy”, the “Rebirth” short), you’re in luck. New Line Cinema and Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment have announced the production of a new Mortal Kombat film for 2013, directed by Tancharoen. Little is known about the production plan, other than a budget somewhere under $100 million.

“It’s really important that we show we can bring our game properties to movies instead of just the other way around,” said Warner Home Entertainment president Kevin Tsujihara. “The new game and the online shorts prompted us to consider a reboot of a brand we hadn’t been actively thinking about.”

  1. I’ve been loving Legacy. I hope WB gives Tancharoen a bit more freedom than they have been for the internet show. I would like the story to be in between Legacy and Rebirth.
