Speaking to Official Playstation Magazine, Sony Computer Entertainment of Europe CEO Jim Ryan has stated that in the coming year, Sony will be focusing on a younger demographic than it has been doing so far. Though Ryan stresses that the ‘core gamers’ won’t be neglected, he reckons that there are several developments going on that will allow Sony to access the family market just as it did with the first-generation Playstation and the Playstation 2. As most of the business on these platforms was done when the hardware had reached a relatively low price-point, and the current-generation Playstation hasn’t quite hit that level yet, “there’s still a lot of PS3’s potentially to be sold.”

  1. Well considering we haven’t see too many Sony 1st Party games for core gamers going to be released next year, this story isn’t all out of the question.

Sony has generally been the middle ground when it comes to appealing to all crowds. MS wanted to go for the core crowd, Nintendo skews to families and Sony attracts everyone.

I just want to see games. I don’t care about the age rating on a game, I just care if it is a good game.

That’s the way it’s suppose to be, shame it’s gone quite bad since the older PS2 days etc, there’s so many very good games on that console, ot brilliant but just nice to play and always good fun without rubbish trophies/achievements(I really hate these, I think they ruin games but that’s for another time =P).

I still play PS2 games, recently I’ve been playing Need for Speed Underground 2 and Most Wanted =)
