Zynga co-founder Justin Waldron has announced on his Facebook page that he is leaving the company.

Waldron was one of the first developers to create a Facebook application, which got him noticed by Zynga co-founders Mark Pincus and Eric Schiermeyer. Waldron was lead engineer on Zynga’s first game Texas Hold’Em Poker (now called Zynga Poker).

“I’ve decided it’s time to leave Zynga and venture off on my own again,” Waldron wrote, in part. “I am grateful to have had the chance to help build a company that touched so many people. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of it – both in the trenches and for playing the games.”
