Double Fine has told GamesIndustry.biz that it has had to layoff 12 people, due to a publisher cancelling an unannounced project.

“One of our unannounced projects was unexpectedly cancelled by its publisher, forcing us to reduce our staff by 12 people. Our remaining projects–Broken Age, Massive Chalice, and Grim Fandango Remastered, were unaffected,” studio head Tim Schafer said.

Earlier this month, Double Fine’s Massive Chalice was made available on Steam Early Access, with purchases saving players 25 percent off the final price. The developer also plans to off the latest build of Grim Fandango Remastered at the PlayStation Experience in Las Vegas in December.
