Bethesda has announced that it will be dropping its subscription model for The Elder Scrolls Online beginning with the upcoming Tamriel Unlimited update.

Starting March 17th, players that purchase the Elder Scrolls Online will be able to play the game without signing up and paying a monthly fee to do so. The console version will debut on June 9th and while it won’t require a subscription to the game, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players will need to have a subscription to Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus.

Players who stay subscribed or subscribe after the Tamriel Unlimited update will receive a monthly deposit of the new virtual currency in-game, access to downloadable content, faster accumulation of experience points, gold and crafting research.
