With Sony’s huge announcement of the PlayStation Slim and price drop last month, you’d expect Sony to not have much to broadcast. But to our surprise Sony has delivered; Sony’s keynote addressed by Kaz Hirai followed the theme of “the age of the network”. Majority of the press conference revolved around Sony’s current philosophy on connecting its user interface citing sources like LittleBigPlanet and its user-generated content with its 2 million published levels, and the success of the PlayStation Network.
This is not to say there are no big video game announcements. During the second half, Hirai stressed the long term importance of the Ps3 wand that will begin with its support on Resident Evil 5: Director’s Cut. Ape Escape, Echochromo, Eccentric Slider, Sing and Draw, Champions of Time, Motion Party, The Shoot, and Tower will also be new games which will incorporate motion controller use from their release. Other games such as PAIN, Flower, Hustle Kings, High Velocity Bowling, and EyePet will be made compatible via downloadable updates. The biggest announcement at the show was the release date of Grand Turismo 5 to be in store selves in Japan on March 2010.
