With a new Mortal Kombat slated for release on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in early 2011, a previously unconfirmed collection containing HD remakes of three installments in the legendary fighting series has been revealed to retailers. The collection, which is known as the Mortal Kombat HD Kollection, will contain remakes of the original Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and is set for a release later this year on November 19th.
Rather than just brushing up the graphics, Warner Bros. Interactive has apparently invested in full remakes of these titles. All of the moves contained in the games have been re-shot with new actors and captured with HD cameras. Additionally, the collection will also include a demo for the upcoming ninth installment in the series, which will simply be known as Mortal Kombat.
At this time, the Mortal Kombat HD Kollection has only been confirmed for a release on the Playstation 3. The game is listed at a suggested retail retail price of $39.99.
That is interesting, but I think I will just wait till MK9 comes out, as all the moves are the same, but MK9 will also have new moves that the others don’t have. Playing MK9 at PAX was awesome, and I am not sure about picking up the collection.
$39.99, 3 HD games + a demo of MK9? Perfect.
3 HD games, the demo, and also the mini games (inlcuding battle tetris… my favorite mini game ever!)
