Already a zombie-esque studio before its acquisition by Playdom, Acclaim Games has been shut down for a second, more permanent, time. Its official website (and all product-related websites) listed detailed reimbursement information on its various products, in addition to a ceased production announcement.
“We regret to inform you that all Acclaim games will no longer be in service effective August 26, 2010.” read the official site.
While a big name in the industry during the 16-bit era, Acclaim filed for bankruptcy in 2004 before being reinstated to develop free-to-play online titles. Neither Playdom nor Acclaim have listed any official reason for the shut down.
Well it is so long to a good friend from the early days of gaming.
