Corporate mergers are limited to just insurance agencies and banks anymore. Industry website IGN, subsidiary of News Corporation, has been confirmed to have bought 1UP parent company UGO. The acquisition was revealed to be final in a TechCrunch interview with site President Roy Bahat, as were the company’s plans to spin UGO’s various assets into a non News Corp. entity. The financial details of the deal have not yet been made public.
IGN’s been moving into competitive gaming via tournaments as well. Lots of big moves.
