New Screens Confirm ‘Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale’
28 Apr, 2012
Exclusive and third-party characters will duke it out this holiday with the Sony Smash Brothers brawler, Playstation All-Stars: Battle Royale. A series of screenshots confirm six playable characters (Killzone 2‘s Colonel Mael Radec, Fat Princess, God of War‘s Kratos, Parappa the Rapper, Sly Cooper, and Twisted Metal‘s Sweet Tooth). Originally rumored as Title Fight, the fighter’s crossover mentality will extend to its background stages, with the preview build showing the Hydra from God of War bursting through an otherwise Ratchet and Clank Future-designed stage.
Coming from SuperBot Entertainment, the game will play out much like its Nintendo inspiration, with one key difference. Instead of depleting a health bar or knocking one’s opponents out of the ring, victory is gained through the execution of finishing moves. These three-tiered attacks are unique to each character (Sweet Tooth fires off heavy artillery in his mech form, Parappa drops some mad beats, etc.) and are built through the filling of a gauge, which is done either by retrieving orbs of power strewn about the stage or gained through combat performance.
Playstation All-Stars: Battle Royale will release on PS3 sometime this Holiday season.
