According to a report by Variety, Michael Fassbender of ‘Prometheus’, ‘X-Men First Class’, and ‘300’-fame, will be taking on the leading-role in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed movie adaptation. Little is known about the project at this time, but Fassbender will be involved in the film as a co-producer in addition to his role.
Jean-Julien Baronnet, the CEO of Ubisoft’s Motion Picture studi0, confirmed the report and stated that Fassbender was their first choice for the role. In an attempt to minimize financial exposure of the fairly new Motion Picture Studio, the company will be making use of the expertise of Ubisoft’s game studios to produce visual effects for the project. The company is also looking to bring Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon to the big screen, though it is currently not known whether those projects are also being pursued at this time.
It is not known when the movie-adaptation of Assassin’s Creed is scheduled to enter theaters.
