Rockstar-owner Take-Two Interactive has announced that it is has closed down the Rockstar Vancouver studio, according to a report by MCV. However, all staff at the studio has been offered a job at the Rockstar’s other Canadian studio: Rockstar Toronto.
The Toronto facility has recently received governmental support, which has enabled it to create 50 new jobs in the region. Thirty-five of these would be taken up by the Rockstar Vancouver staff, if the entire team would decide to join the Toronto studio.
Rockstar has stated that it believes consolidating both of its Canadian teams into a single studio will make for a more powerful creative force for future project. In the past, Rockstar Vancouver had worked on Bully, and it recently aided in the created of Max Payne 3. Rockstar Toronto has primarily been involved in developing the PC version of other Rockstar titles, though it is currently not clear whether the studio will now begin to work on it´s own projects.
