A month after Sony Liverpool was reported to be closed, a new piece of art work and a very straightfoward message have been posted on the studio’s official Twitter feed, seeming to indicate otherwise. Stating simply, “WE. ARE. ALIVE.” the message came with a new piece of official WipEout concept artwork (seen above).
The team followed up (and seemed to contradict) the initial message hours later on the studio’s Facebook page, stating,
“Good afternoon Pilots
As you may be aware; Studio Liverpool shut its doors on the 22nd of August 2012.
It was a very sad day- the end of an era and will never be forgotten. While we wait for news on the future of WipEout, Online play will continue to be supported and there will be plenty of WipEout community events, giveaways and goodies to look forward to!
WipEout’s passion will live on – Together we are stronger and together we will keep WipEout alive.
WE ♥ WO!”
There is still no word from Sony on the plans for the future of the WipEout IP, nor any clarification of Studio Liverpool’s recent activity (beyond their traditional “no comment” response).
