Gree’s UK business director Lynn Daniel has sent a statement to TechCrunch, confirming the closure of the company’s UK operations.
“Due to the challenging economic climate and on-going changes within the interactive industry, GREE has proposed to close its UK office”, the statement reads, in part. “This decision is being considered in order to focus on developing content from the United States of America for the Western market.”
The statement also says that the realignment of the business is needed to “ensure that GREE can continue to invest and enhance its business offering moving forward.”
In May, Gree laid off employees from its San Francisco office and closed its Chinese studio due to an “extraordinary loss” in its 2013 fiscal year.
