PS3 To PS4 Game Upgrade Price Is Up To The Publishers
In an interview with Digital Spy, Sony UK managing director Fergal Gara said that Sony would not set a price for users upgrading from PS3 to PS4 versions of a game, because that decision should rest entirely with the publisher.
“The publisher gets to define that, actually,” Gara said, in part. “What will happen is, the PS4 digital file will be made available on the PlayStation Store (as it would be anyway) at launch, and the PS3 discs will be sold through retail.”
“What the consumer can then do, for a premium to be defined by the publisher, is access the PS4 digital game and then, provided they still have the PS3 disc, they will be able to play the PS4 version when they decide to buy the next gen.”
PlayStation UK Boss: Sony Is ‘looking at a PS4 sell-out situation’
Speaking to Official PlayStation Magazine, PlayStation UK boss Fergal Gara claims the company is struggling to satisfy pre-orders. “The problem with pre-orders, which is a good problem to have, is that they’re very, very high,” he said, in part.
“As an ex retailer myself I understand this at least as well as anyone else: we need to help retailers manage the expectations of their customers and not let them down. And that is why we advise them that, from August the 5th, they should not guarantee anyone they will get their unit on day one”.
“We are going to be looking at a sell-out situation and chasing demand, it’s a problem, it’s kind of a good problem to have, but it is a problem and we’re trying to manage that as responsibly as we possibly can.”
‘Dead Rising 3’ Team and Microsoft Working To Improve Performance
Players trying out Dead Rising 3 on the Gamescom show floor, have noticed stuttering during play but Capcom has said it will be smooth when the game releases.
“This demo is actually several weeks old and we’ve made a lot of ground,” producer Jason Leigh told Videogamer, in part. “We’ve got a little bit more ways to go before we release the game.”
“We’re targeting 30 frames a second. Because we’re based in Vancouver, and Seattle is where Microsoft is based, we’re only three hours up the road so we constantly have tech people driving back and forth and they’re helping us to make this a very smooth running game at launch.”
