While Nintendo’s announcement of 2 Gamepad support was a welcome one this morning, it was confirmed later in the day to come at a price. Nintendo Worldwide President Satoru Iwata posted a Twitter message (translated by Kotaku) stating that the use of two Gamepad controllers will reduce the Wii U’s frame rate by half, from 60 to 30 frames per second. The dual-Gamepad functionality is something Nintendo will roll out after launch, according to Iwata, which seems to indicate that the company will have the time it needs to resolve the issue sometime down the road.
