According to a representative from MogoTXT, the developer of Gridiron Thunder, Kickstarter has conducted a “full investigation” but has found no wrongdoing.
Gridiron Thunder was suspected of unconventionally raising its funds on Kickstarter, earning $171,009 from just 183 backers. More questions were asked when Gridiron Thunder successfully applied to the Ouya Free The Games Fund, and initiative which sees Ouya match the funds raised for any Kickstarter game that will stay exclusive on the Ouya for six months.
Elementary, My Dear Holmes had its Kickstarter campaign suspended last week after its developer asked Amazon and Kickstarter to investigate the accounts that pledged toward the $58,770 raised. Victory Square Games is now seeking private equity to get Elementary, My Dear Holmes finished.
Speaking to Joystiq, MogoTXT CEO Andrew Won said that Kickstarter had conducted a full investigation but found nothing wrong with the Gridiron Thunder campaign. “This is conclusive and our campaign came to a successful close last Sunday,” Won said, in part.
“I’ve answered the same question many times and I have nothing more to add. There is nothing left to discuss.”
Earlier in the week, Ouya founder Julie Uhrman addressed Free The Games Fund critics in a post on the Ouya website. “If we can put aside the doubt and embrace the spirit of this fund as it is meant, and of Ouya as it is meant, we might just be surprised by what a little positivity can produce,” she said, in part.
