Former Halo composer Marty O’Donnell will receive $95,000 after settling a lawsuit against Bungie chief executive Harold Ryan, VentureBeat reports.
O’Donnell worked on each Halo title up to Halo Reach, and also composed music for Destiny. However, in April he was terminated by the studio’s board of directors and said on Twitter that it was “without cause.”
Bungie released its own statement claiming that O’Donnell and the studio parted ways on good terms. “For more than a decade, Marty O’Donnell filled our worlds with unforgettable sounds and soundtracks, and left an indelible mark on our fans. Today, as friends, we say goodbye.”
Bungie, who initially denied that O’Donnell was due remuneration, is now required to pay over $38,385 in unpaid work and vacation time as well as the same amount again in damages. Including legas fees and interest, the total reaches $95,019.13.
