When asked whether the ‘Super Guide’ will be included in the highly anticipated sequel to 2007’s Super Mario Galaxy, producer Shigeru Miyamoto stated that while the game will be ‘really challenging’ it is uncertain whether this mechanic will be available in Super Mario Galaxy 2. The Super Guide was recently introduced in New Super Mario Bros. Wii as a solution for players who were unable to complete a level on their own. The console then takes control of the character as it navigates through the level, with the player being able to take control at any time. For more information, hit the jump.
Miyamoto stated that while he expects that a mechanic to aid players will be present, he was unable to confirm if the exact same mechanic will be used. Though the Nintendo Wii has a relatively casual userbase, Miyamoto previously confirmed that the game is being designed for players who at the very least have some previous experience with the first instalment. Speaking about Super Mario Galaxy 2, he added that the team at Nintendo “built it with consideration that we believe that people who played through the first Mario Galaxy have become better players.”
Super Mario Galaxy 2 is currently scheduled for a 2010 release.
Well, there were some challenging stages in SMG to begin with, and I wouldn’t expect anything less from a sequel. Things need to be more challenging in the sequel.
The first one was pretty challenging IMO
Yeah, especially the challenge missions, and the later stars and galaxies. I still have like a third of the stars to get.
Really?
I didn’t think so. Compared to Mario 64, I found it all too easy. Even with Luigi.
P.S.: How do I get rid of the 1 at the end of my name? I didn’t register with it and it seems to only be on the main site.
