The game is beautiful and technically capable, but it’s tedious and unrewarding. I’d encourage gamers to give it a try if it was free, but spending any amount of money on Thalamus is too much.

The more we played, the more addicted we became. We hate to continually compare it to The Legend of Zelda and The Binding of Isaac, but its influences are apparent.

The Banner Saga is a gorgeous game and though it is incredibly early, it will be surprising if it doesn’t go home with one accolade or another in a year’s time.
