Those complaining that Harmonix and MTV’s mega-popular music-rhythm game Rock Band skewed a bit too far in favor of pop, soft rock tracks will have no more room to complain come October 13th. The two studios behind the game, as well as Electronic Arts, recently announced a stand-alone track pack containing only the most excellent and hardcore of heavy metal. Releasing simutaneously nationwide for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii, and Playstation 2, the disc will retail for $30 dollars, and feature 20 on-disc tracks from artists like Godsmack, Childen of Bodom, and more.

Players on the PS3 and 360 will have the option to either play the tracks off-disc, or upload them via a free service to their existing Rock Band library, giving the title a combined catalog of over 800 tracks.

  1. I’m pretty sure all of these songs are already in the game… and who isn’t connected to the internet these days?
