Activision has announced today that the next instalment in the Call of Duty series will be released on November 9th 2010, and will be known as Call of Duty: Black Ops. The game is currently in development at Treyarch, who has dedicated teams working on the singleplayer, multiplayer and cooperative aspects of the game.

No details are currently available concerning the setting of the game, but it is unlikely that the game will be set in the post-Vietnam era, as Infinity Ward and publisher Activision are currently entangled in a legal struggle for the rights to all Call of Duty games set in this period. More information will be made available immediately after the first footage of the game is revealed on GT TV later today. For more information, please visit the www.callofduty.com/blackops.

  1. Not too sure if I am excited for this, the series is being milked and nothing really original is brought to the table each time. That said, the FPS genre is getting bland, just like a few other genres way back in the 90’s.
