Final Fantasy Versus XIII, a part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis compilation alongside Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII, is moving along “comparatively faster” then the core entry, stated by Square Enix’s Yoshinori Kitase at Gamescom.

Kitase says due to the team’s “knowledge and experience” gained through the Final Fantasy XIII,  it’s taking less time to develop than the core game in the compilation that has been in development for at least five years. Final Fantasy Versus XIII is expected to be released sometime 2011 alongside Final Fantasy XIV. Expect more news on the game come TGS towards the end of September.

  1. With the engine built, I’m expecting Squenix to release at least up to FFXV before this generation ends. And I’m assuming Versus is further along because it probably uses a battle system similar to Kingdom Hearts (groan) whereas FFXIII is doing something different.

Oh well. Good things come to those who wait.

  2. Sad face is right.

I honestly don’t see an end to the series as long as Playstation still has a console out. The games don’t truly share the same universe, so the storyline and character set is completely malleable. The renderings from XIII look great, can’t wait for this one
