Cologne, Germany – During the second official day of the Cologne GamesCom, South Korean MMO-publisher NCSoft revealed the first trailer for their highly anticipated free-to-play MMORPG title Guild Wars 2. The original Guild Wars was released in April 2005 and has seen three expansions released over the years. Over 6 million units of the game were sold in the four years since the game was released.
Though Guild Wars 2 was announced in March of 2007, little information regarding the game has been revealed since that time. Similarly to the original, the game will not feature a montly subscription fee and the game will heavilly emphasize a developing storyline that players can follow at their own pace. Unlike the first Guild Wars instalment however, players will have the option to choose from five different races, rather than just regular Humans. These races include races that were encountered in the original, such as Charr, Norn and Asura. A new race, Sylvari, has also been confirmed to be playable in the game.
The new trailer explains the backstory of Guild Wars 2, but also shows a large amount of new environments that seem to have been rendered using the game engine. The trailer can be found below.
