  1. Yeah–if it were my list and my list alone, Link to the Past would be way down the list.

And yes–turns out I can make a Top 10 in under 15 minutes.

  2. Pretty good list. It lacks Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island (best Mario game ever IMO), but otherwise a good list. Glad that Mega Man X is in it.

  3. I don’t agree with a lot of the list. Super Metroid in 4th? I don’t think I could call any of the top 3 games better than Super Metroid, and Secret of Mana better than Super Mario RPG? Simply insane 😉

I think Screw Attack did the right thing choosing to do a top 20, there are so many great SNES games that just can’t be mentioned in a top 10, but still deserve to be mentioned. Games like Metal Warriors, Captain Commando, Final Fantasy IV, Donkey Kong Country 3, Mystical Ninja, etc.

Opinions are opinions, I guess. I’m impressed with Eliot’s editing skills as always.

  4. I’m playing SUper Mario RPG at the moment, not that great actually.

I’d put Super Metroid at number 1 personally. BTW, the best game in the Metroid series? That can be argued. Many people, me included, prefer Metroid Prime.

How did FF make it to number one… I really don’t know.

The one thing that needs to change… get a better mic.

  5. ^ Well, I really enjoyed Super Mario RPG, but honestly I thought Paper Mario was the better RPG. The Gamecube Paper Mario is severely underrated as well.

  6. Super Metroid or MMX need to be #1. But that’s just me.

Whoever was playing X was terrible (no offence lol).

Also, I wouldn’t really say that Chrono Trigger’s plot had that much depth.

  7. A solid list overall. I’m glad your goal was to make it shorter, because otherwise I was going to criticize your lack of detail on the higher entries, especially FFVI.

I still think you should have mentioned AVGN’s affirmation of FFVI as the best in the series. If anyone can get more people to play the game, he can!

I like the list, and being that it was a consensus, it can off very well.

Do Top Ten Dreamcast games next!

  8. it’s a good list.

i would suggest, to help the pacing of the video, that you guys cut or shorten the intro sequences for each game. they’re nifty, but slow the flow down a bit too much for my taste.

    good work!

  9. super mario RPG is terribly overrated tbh..it was charming and fairly fun but shouldn’t be held in this sort of regard. not on a console that also had games like chrono trigger, secret of mana and final fantasy VI in terms of RPG’s alone, let alone all the other genres that the list neglected.

but anyway that’s just my take on it and obviously the method you used to devise it is going to leave some “better” choices out. other than that it’s a fine list, i’m not going to nitpick as it’s highly subjective, that was just the thing i most disagreed about.

FFVI is easily the best game on the system to me aswell. nice watch.

also, may i suggest you make the intro section a bit shorter but instead leave that for more time to talk about the game and such? it would make the video a better watch i think.

  10. I really enjoyed the list… sure, everyone has their own, but this was a very solid list. Top 20 would have been nicer though, to give nods to some other greats like Act Raiser, Starfox, Earthworm Jim, amoung so many others!

    Still, bravo on the list.

  11. So much SMRPG hate D= I loved the game, you people should be ashamed. How could you not like the battle system or characters? Everything was top-notch in that game. I personally would put SMRPG over FFIV and SoM…. but, not Chrono Trigger. I still haven’t gotten around to playing FFVI so I can’t comment on that one.

  12. no one’s really hating it. i loved it when i was younger, i just don’t think it’s top 10 worthy.

  13. I think it’s Top 10 worthy but I like it less than most RPG’s because being centered around the Mario franchise somewhat limits how awesome the storyline can be. I mean you can’t have heartfelt drama and true evil in a Mario game–it doesn’t work. But it’s still really fun.

  14. Finally a list that DOESN’T place Super Metroid at number 1. I seriously <3 you guys for that one.

I love Super Mario RPG. Chrono Trigger on the other hand… although I enjoyed it, I feel the game is massively overpraised. Much more so than SMRPG. Story and gameplay wise, its really not that great :/. But mainly storywise I guess.

Anyway, this was a good list although I've still yet to play FF6.

  15. Finally a list that DOESN’T place Super Metroid at number 1. I seriously <3 you guys for that one.

I love Super Mario RPG, I feel it deserves the praise. Chrono Trigger on the other hand… not so much. Although I enjoyed it, I feel the game is massively overpraised. Much more so than SMRPG. Story and gameplay wise, its really not that great :/. But mainly storywise I guess.

Anyway, this was a good list although I've still yet to play FF6.
