Gameloft, producer of dozens of portable games for smart phones, iPhones, and console digital distribution, announced today that total global purchases have exceeded 6 million units on Apple’s App Store, the iPhone OS remaining their most successful platform. Currently, the producer has 35 titles on the iPhone, 18 having had some time on theĀ Top 10 worldwide games list. The rest of 2009 will bring another 15-30 titles from the developer, adding to the already impressive catalog of titles including The Oregon Trail, Assassin’s Creed: Altair’s Chronicles, and Guitar Rock Tour 2.
“From the distribution model to the types of games available, the App Store has completely revolutionized the way handheld games are played, perceived and received,” said Michel Guillemot, chairman and CEO, Gameloft. “Our strategy from the onset has been twofold. First we deliver an aggressive line-up of high quality games and then we adapt in real time to consumer needs. With over 6 million paid games sold, it has proven to be quite successful.”
DAMN! That’s pretty impressive.
