With Bioware’s Star Wars: The Old Republic drawing near, Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) has announced some of their Star Wars Galaxies servers will be shutting down as of 5pm (PST) October 15th. SOE is allowing free character transfers to existing servers till the shutdown date; all characters still within the server past the date will be deleted. The following servers are scheduled to be shutdown:
Corbantis
Europe-Infinity
Intrepid
Kauri
Kettemoor
Lowca
Naritus
Scylla
Tarquinas
Tempest
Valcyn
Wanderhome
This news makes me a little sad. I used to love SWG when it first launched. It really doesn’t seem that long ago. But SOE continued to shoot themselves in the foot one patch after another.
