Despite the initial sales of Media Molecule’s LittleBigPlanet hitting an underwhelming note, the endlessly replayable  platformer quickly became the top of Sony’s holiday 2008 bill, and has since racked enough sales for a Game of the Year Edition, not to mention a shift to a portable playground with LittleBigPlanet PSP this holiday. Despite the momentum that has grown behind the franchise, Media Molecule’s level designer Danny Leaver thinks a sequel would just split the community.

“We’d never want to do that,” said Leaver in an interview with online gamer magazine Critical Gamer. “That’d be the most counterproductive thing you could do I think.”

Martin Lynagh, producer on the project, agrees with the sentiment, pushing the continuance of the team’s solid effort in releasing DLC packets. “I think what you’ve seen so far from LittleBigPlanet, that’s the way it’s going to continue.”
