Eric Levine, PR Manager of SCE America announced today that studio Ready At Dawn is currently working on a new God of War for the PSP and PSPGo. The game follows on the success of God of War: Chains of Olympus for the same platform, which was developed by the same studio and released in 2008, and will be known as God of War: Ghost of Sparta.

The game will be set after the original God of War from 2005 and follows Kratos during his ascension to power as the eponymous God of War. According to Levine, Ghosts of Sparta will push the capabilities of the handheld platform to its limits, and contain 25% more gameplay than Chains of Olympus.

More information will be revealed as the E3 approaches, but it is clear that the game is set for a release this year. A small set of screenshots can be found after the jump.
