The 2010 edition of Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition has revealed its list of its reader’s Top 50 favorite video game franchises of all time. Calculated via a website poll taken from January to April of last year, over 13,000 votes were tallied for the final rankings. The full list can be found – in order – after the jump.
“We decided to take a different approach with this list than we did in the previous edition,” said Gaz Deaves, Guinness World Records Gaming Editor. “Instead of asking developers, industry insiders and journalists to rank their favorite titles, we approached a different kind of expert: the players themselves! We are confident that this ‘top 50’ more accurately reflects the tastes of the average gamer and not just the critics.”

Would like to see a similar poll for the most popular UNIVERSE (so, entirely separate from the games themselves), rather than just most popular franchise. In terms of the universe, I definitely agree with Halo… in terms of gameplay, I’d disagree wholeheartedly.
This is why I hate small poll numbers. I would have okayed it is it was over 5 million people from all over the world and not just probably in the US. If I made that list, well it would be very different, but that is my list.
That seems like a bad list when Halo, CoD2, GH, and GeOW are in your top 10 franchises of all time.
