Blizzard announced today that the highly anticipated real-time strategy game StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty is due for release in North America, Europe and most countries in Asia on July 27th 2010. The game, which is set to be the first installment of the StarCraft II trilogy will be the first major addition to the StarCraft universe since the original game was released more than 12 years ago.
The closed beta for the game has been available since February 17th 2010. Recently, the collector’s edition for the game was revealed and made available for pre-order at $99.99. The regular version of the game will have a suggested retail price of $59.99.
A release window for the remaining two installments in the StarCraft II trilogy, Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void, has not yet been announced.
