While Portal 2 may have us in the industry happy to have Gabe Newell among us, Forbes Magazine has recognized the Valve studio head for a different reason entirely. On their list of “Names You Need to Know in 2011,” Steam is the key reason for Newell’s inclusion. With a project 70% market share in the digital distribution market, with 30 million user accounts and 1,200 available titles. While Valve has kept its assets clandestine, Forbes estimates the company’s value has far exceeded, if not multiplied several factors, beyond their $70 million profiling the magazine did back in 2007.
