During a speech at the UBS 38th Annual Media and Communications Conference, Electronic Arts CFO Eric Brown laid out the publisher’s hopes for their upcoming Bioware-developed MMO The Old Republic. In addition to discussing digital revenues from the IP, Brown talked about how long the company expects to net profit from the “Star Wars”-based online title.
“Our assumptions for break-even and profitability are not seven-digit subscribers. We think we can run and operate a very successful and profitable MMO at different levels,” said Brown. “The key thing here is to really perfect the product. We’re shooting for an extremely high quality game experience. We view this as a ten-year opportunity.”
