Most of the largest US retailers have apparently reduced the price of the Nintendo Wii from $199.99 to  $169.99. The pricedrop has been confirmed for Amazon.com, Gamestop, BestBuy, Target, and Toys R Us.

Last week, reports surfaced that Nintendo was gearing up to announce a Wii-price reduction on the 15th of May. These reports indicate that the cut would see the price reduced to around $150. Nintendo has not made an official statement regarding the recent drop in prices across the United States, or the reported price-cut in May.

Despite having amassed the largest installbase in the United States, sales of the Nintendo Wii have lagged behind those of the Playstation 3, and Xbox 360 in the previous years.
