Following rumors earlier today that the Canadian Too Human-developer Silicon Knight had laid off all but 25 staff members, 1Up reports that Silicon Knights CFO Mike Mays confirmed that around 45 employees have been lost their jobs at the studio. Contrary to earlier reports, Mays indicated that “just under 40” employees currently remain with the studio, and that it would be refocusing development to work on one of the “most requested titles for the next generation.”
The layoffs occurred as negotiations with a potential partner fell through. Silicon Knights was founded in 1992, and has only released two titles this current generation: Too Human (2008) and X-Men: Destiny (2011).
