The latest GameInformer cover story reveals a new collaboration that still has us scratching our heads. A “full-scale RPG” based on the seminal satire of Comedy Central’s “South Park” is currently in development at Obsidian Entertainment (Neverwinter Nights 2, Fallout: New Vegas), courtesy of publisher THQ. GameInformer and Obsidian have made a point to distinguish this new game from the cheap promotional tie-in games from Acclaim.
Matt Stone and Trey Parker are on board both as voice cast and writing talent, and while much of the series’ character roster will be present, gamers will play as a new 10-year old entering the Colorado mountain town for the first time. Befriending series’ mainstays will be an important tactic when it comes to defend South Park against a variety of yet to be revealed threats. South Park: The Game is currently set for sometime in 2012 for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
