Sega announced that it will be publishing The Cave, the new adventure game from Ron Gilbert (Maniac Mansion, The Secret of Monkey Island), which is set for a release sometime in early 2013. In development at Double Fine (unrelated to the studio’s now famous Kickstarter project), The Cave will release digitally on Playstation Network, Xbox Live Arcade and PC, keeping in line with the developer’s retooling of their release strategy back in 2010. Sega’s Senior Vice President of Digital Business Haruki Satomi stated that the release is the first part of the publisher’s plan to focus and expand its own digital gaming catalog.

Capcom is celebrating 25 years of Street Fighter in a big, beautiful way. The publisher announced a whopping 15-disc collector’s box set of games and supplements from the franchise. The games included are Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix, Street Fighter 3 Third Strike Online Edition, Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition, and Street Fighter x Tekken (the latter two also having downloadable content available in the package).

According to a report by Dutch website N1ntendo [via Kotaku], Konami will be unveiling a new Castlevania title for the Nintendo 3DS at E3 next month. Supposedly, the title will be known as Castlevania: Mirror of Ages and has been in development for more than 18 months by now. More details are included after the jump.

In the midst of Activision’s ongoing legal battle against ex-Infinity Ward heads Jason West and Vince Zampella (latest update here), a 27-page contract between the publisher and developer Bungie has surfaced courtesy of the LA Times. The ten-year agreement has Bungie on the line for four “sci-fantasy, action shooter games” in a franchise project currently dubbed “Destiny” (a term which Bungie filed a trademark for last year).

In a blogpost over on the Official SEGA Blog, Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford has announced that Aliens: Colonial Marines is currently set for a release on the 12th of February, 2013. The has been delayed multiple times so far, with publisher SEGA having announced a tentative release date of Fall 2012 only a few months ago. More details are included after the jump.

MCV reports that THQ announced during a recent investor’s call that Devil’s Third, currently in development at Tomonobu Itagaki’s Valhalla Game Studios, has failed to meet the company’s ‘profitability profile’ and that the publisher is therefore seeking another party to take over responsibilities for the game. Earlier in the week, THQ announced they were delaying Obsidian Entertainment’s upcoming RPG based on “South Park”. Pushing back release from “sometime in 2012″ to Q1 2013, no reason was given for the delay. But an earlier rumor did point to a possible subtitle for the game: The Stick of Truth.

The new Lara has been pushed back into 2013, reported Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics earlier today. Originally scheduled for this Fall, Crystal Dynamics head Darrell Gallagher claimed the delay was to give the game an extra layer of polish.

IGN reports that Ubisoft is currently working on a new title known as The Avengers: Battle for Earth, which will be based on the “Secret Invasion” comic book series from Marvel. The game will only be released for the Nintendo WiiU and Xbox 360 Kinect. More details are available after the jump.

While Microsoft’s Xbox 360 is arguably the most connected console in terms of multiplayer servers and multimedia licensing agreements, the device has remained steadfastly closed for anyone wanting to browse outside the system’s service library. According to The Verge (same team that broke the $100 Xbox story), such a constraint may be lifted soon. According to unnamed sources, Microsoft will be making available a full Internet Explorer 9 experience on the console with Kinect support.

Neocore Games, the Hungarian developer behind the King Arthur action-RPG franchise, has announced on its website that it is working on a new project titled The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing. Though more information will be unveiled at E3 2012 next month, the gave will revolve around the son of the legendary vampire-hunter from Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula’. Vg247.com reports that 2K Games has announced that the upcoming third installment in the BioShock franchise, BioShock Infinite, will not release in October as originally planned. The game will now be released for PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360 on February 26th, 2013. More information is available after the jump.

UPDATE (5/09/12): Microsoft has gone live with their subscription Xbox bundle, exclusively through its Microsoft storefronts. The bundle was as previously described: $100 for a 4GB 360 + Kinect, with a $15/month Xbox Live contract. (via MCV)
Original Story (5/03/12): The Verge is reporting that Microsoft is preparing a $100 Xbox 360 Kinect bundle, with a launch as early as next week. Allegedly, the bundle would contain a 4GB model of the console, an Xbox Live Gold subscription and the motion control peripheral, and would offset its ridiculously low asking price with a 2-year, $15/month contract. The contract includes a warranty “and possibly some additional streaming content from cable providers or sports package providers”, but would levy a fee for any premature cancellations.
