Rumor: Next ‘Mass Effect 3′ Multiplayer DLC Leaked?

An unnamed source at Electronic Arts has reportedly opened up to Front Towards Gamer, providing the info spread on the latest multiplayer DLC for Mass Effect 3. The “Rebellion” pack will supposedly include two new maps (“Firebase Jade’s” jungle reservoir and Firebase Goddess on Thessia), three new weapons for reinforcements, and six new classes (Phoenix Adept, Phoenix Vanguard, Quarian Infiltrator, Quarian Engineer, Vorcha Sentinel and Vorcha Soldier).

First ‘Skyrim’ DLC Revealed

Earlier today, the Bethesda Blog announced the existence of the first downloadable content for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Dawnguard. Promising more details at this year’s E3, the DLC will launch sometime this Summer, and will be exclusive to the Xbox 360 for its thirty days.

Spoiling their own announcement half a day early, some overeager Activision employee launched the publisher’s official reveal site for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. Confirming the rumored November 13th deadline, Activision included the following blurb describing the upcoming schedule: Pushing the boundaries of what fans have come to expect from the record-setting entertainment franchise, Call of Duty®: Black Ops 2 propels players into a near future, 21st Century Cold War, where technology and weapons have converged to create a new generation of warfare.

‘Halo 4′ Gets Live Action Web Series

“Not just a marketing piece” according to Microsoft, Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn will be a live action web series to promote the game’s November 6th launch. Representing Microsoft’s largest investment ever in live action production, Dawn will release in five 15-minute episodes on Machinima and the Halo Waypoint online community. The series will act as “an origins story that teaches you about a lot of different facets of the (‘Halo’) universe.”

Activision Celebrates Bond’s 50th with ’007 Legends’

Marking the demi-centennial of the Agent James Bond’s first mission, Activision announced 007 Legends, a game that will “recreate a number of the character’s most iconic moments from the silver screen.” The publisher has tapped UK-based studio Eurocom to continue their work on the franchise (after both 2010′s Goldeneye: 007 and its Reloaded HD cousin).

‘Prey 2′ (Barely) Alive

Bethesda sent out a brief press release earlier in the week to let the media know that Prey 2, it’s Human Head Studios-developed future FPS, has been delayed past 2012. No updated launch window was provided, with the company stating that the development for the game “has not progressed satisfactorily this past year”. In its current state, the software reportedly “does not currently meet [Bethesda] quality standards.”

‘Max Payne’ Getting Official Marvel Comic Run

Already half way to a graphic novel, Remedy’s noir shooter franchise Max Payne will be getting a three-issue comic run, Marvel announced earlier in the week. Remedy’s Sam Lake (Max Payne, Max Payne 2) and Rockstar Game’s Dan Houser (Max Payne 3) will pen the script for the comic, which will be published both digitally and in hard-back. Acting as a sort of prequel to next month’s Max Payne 3, the comic will take place in between the events of the series’ first two installments.

‘Darksiders II’ Delayed For Added Polish

THQ confirmed a delay in Vigil Game’s Darksiders II earlier today, stating that a final bit of polish was needed before the game could go gold. Originally slated for this June, the hack-and-slash/dungeon crawler will instead launch this August. THQ has denied rumors that the delay is being implemented in reaction to the company’s recent layoffs, or to better align with the launch of Nintendo’s Wii U.

Announced only hours after rumors about the release date being circulating, Halo 4 will not only be the start of the new “Reclaimer Trilogy”, but will headline – according to Spencer – “the most successful year in Xbox history.”

Crysis 3 Confirmed for Spring 2013

‘Crysis 3′ Reveal Set for April 16th

After its existence was mistakenly revealed on their Origin service, Electronic Arts confirmed that a formal reveal of Crysis 3 information can be expected on April 16th. Speaking to Joystiq, EA proclaimed that “The best kept secret in shooters just can’t be contained”. According to Russian gaming website Madfanboy (via CVG), Crysis 3 will be set in a devastated New York City that is “almost a jungle”. A Spring 2013 launch is expected for the game, as is a simultaneous launch across 360, PC, and PS3.

‘Skyrim’ Getting Updated with Kinect Support, Zenimax Trademarks “Fus Roh Dah”

Later this month, Dragon Shouts will get a lot more literal. Bethesda announced earlier today that Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will be updated sometime this month – for free – with Kinect voice support, recognizing over 200 unique voice commands. Not limited to the fantasy RPG’s famed vocal chord attacks, Dovahkins will be able to use voice commands for menu surfing, commanding followers, and hotkey equipping.

‘Resident Evil 6′ Launch Date Pushed Up to October

Capcom has surprised us all again with its continued unorthodox treatment of Resident Evil 6‘s release date. First the publisher broke it’s own mold by announcing a release date in the game’s debut trailer (a first for the franchise and its notoriously belated launches), and now the latest media for the game has its release window bumped up a month. According to RE6‘s Captivate trailer, the action-horror shooter will be arriving on October 2nd, a full month and three weeks ahead of its original November 22nd deadline.

Capcom Taps Spark Unlimited for ‘Lost Planet 3′

An announcement trailer for Lost Planet 3 was one of the bigger announcements coming out of Capcom’s Captivate event this year, especially with the change in developers. Capcom has moved production on the shooter westward to Spark Unlimited (Call of Duty: Finest Hour, Legendary), with the game apparently returning to the frozen wastelands of the original Lost Planet, if the trailer is any indication.

‘Bulletstorm’ Sequel Cancelled by Epic

A direct follow-up to People Can Fly’s arcade shooter Bulletstorm had made it into production before the project was canned by Epic Games. The Polish team has since been moved to a different, unannounced project. According to Epic Games President Mike Capps, the original Bulletstorm wasn’t enough of a success to merit the budget for a sequel. Speaking to Gamespot UK at PAX East this past weekend, Capps is quoted as saying, “From a sales perspective it was good, but not amazing. I think EA was hoping we’d do better”.
