SEGA Confirms ‘Sonic Adventure 2 HD’ Release

18 Jul, 2012

GamesRadar reports that during a gathering at Comic Con last week, Sega confirmed to fans that Sonic Adventure 2 will be making its way to Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network in the form of an HD-rerelease. Rumors concerning a possible rerelease popped up after Microsoft accidentally posted a listing for the game on Xbox.com last month. The listing was removed shortly after going live, and neither Sega or Microsoft have spoken out regarding it since.

Sonic Adventure 2 HD will featured updated graphics, leaderboards, and trophy / achivement support. A price point or release date for the game have not been confirmed, though Sega expects it to launch some time this year.

Sonic Adventure 2 was released for the Dreamcast in 2001, and made its way to the Nintendo Gamecube a year later after Sega withdrew from the hardware market.  The game was the first to introduce the character Sonic’s archrival, Shadow the Hedgehog.
