The highly anticipated OUYA console (nearing $6.5 million on Kickstarter at the time of publication) has scored a major media partnership with VEVO, the massive online music video sharing service. According to VEVO’s press release, OUYA users will now be able to, “Browse through the most-viewed music videos on the web, explore full video catalogs of top-selling artists or venture into the realm of new staff picks and live concerts.”
With the OUYA being an android-based console, it remains unclear how accessing VEVO directly will be any different than accessing the service’s channel on the built-in Youtube app. We have contacted the office behind OUYA for comment, and will update when we receive a response. VEVO, along with the OnLive service recently announced for the console, will become available at the OUYA’s launch in March of 2013.
